The young field of obesity surgery (bariatric surgery) in Germany expands as a consequence of the rapid increase of overweight and obesity.

  • New surgical methods, minimal access techniques and the enormous increase of scientific studies and evidence, all contribute to the success of bariatric surgery, which is the only realistic chance of permanent weight loss and regression of secondary diseases in many cases.

Skip the MRI for Low Back Pain

Immediate imaging with X-rays, CT scans, or MRIs for patients with acute low back pain is not recommended for all patients, according to new guidelines by the American College of Physicians.

  • Imaging tests are appropriate for people with low back pain that may be due to cancer, infection, nerve damage or pain that worsens despite initial treatment.

Agriculture and Health and Human Services of USA released the Latest Dietary Guidelines for Americans

On 3rd Feb 2011 – The departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services of US have released the latest, “The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans”. This evidence based guidelines has been drafted by the committee in consultation with experts and is based on reports from Institute of Medicine of America. The nutritional guidance aims improved nutrition and physical activity by promoting health and reducing the risk of chronic diseases, prevalence of obesity.
