Air pollution, Respiratory allergies and Smoking have increased the incidence of Chronic lung disease .It is a big drain on the State health care scheme abroad and a drain in pockets of an average middle class citizen of India. Educating a patient & involving him in his or her own treatment is the task of primary care workers. The job gets tougher in rural India. But this is a challenge.

Life long treatment for osteoporosis has not been adhered to amongst the Swedish population. Situation could be worse in India where poverty, illiteracy, myths and ignorance could add to the existing problem .It becomes the Family doctor’s job to educate & see that the patients take these medicines lifelong.

How often we treat our patients with antipyretics? If we had a little patience to explain to our patients, the benefit of fever it would be far more worthy than just prescribing one to curb it. Fever is a protective symptom which should not be ignored but not be a cause for panic and treatment. Here is a study to emphasis that a temperature less than 40 degrees is to be just watched and the person just has to rest.
