In today’s era with patients being well informed, what with internet access and increasing awareness, it becomes necessary for the family physician to update himself/herself. Not only it will improve their knowledge and skill but will also help to deliver better care to the patients.

Family physicians play a vital role in the healthcare scenario, as they are the ones who provide primary care to the vast majority of our population. Hence it becomes necessary that they update their knowledge about the medical issues that they face every day.

Continued medical education (CME) is required for the family physicians to remain at par with the advancing technology and newer medical advancements.
Conditions like diabetes which has become an epidemic, should be treated by family physicians. This can bring down the treatment cost effectively.
