CDC issues new TB treatment Guidelines

Posted by: admin on: January 6, 2012

New guidelines on treating so-called “latent” tuberculosis infection in the United States should significantly shorten and simplify the course of the therapy from about 9 months to 3 months, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention -Team@CMHF

Before starting therapy to prevent venous thromboembolism (VTE), physicians should evaluate the risk for thromboembolism and bleeding among medical, nonsurgical inpatients, according to a new clinical practice guideline issued by the American College of Physicians (ACP) and reported in the November 1 issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine. -Team@CMHF

The medicalisation of life continues apace with new National Institute for Clinical Excellence (Nice) guidelines proposing caesarean section as, effectively, a lifestyle choice for all mothers, not just those who were only recently scorned as “too posh to push”. -Team@CMHF
